Today

I didn't think I was nervous about going to the doctor until I was in the kitchen and screamed at Christian and Ethan for something stupid. Hmmm... Guess maybe I am a little nervous.

The kids have been apologized to, the pumpkin pie is in the oven, the turkey is taking a bath and the shopping list is made. The pecan and sweet potato pies just aren't going to happen.

For some reason, I completely forgot to plan Thanksgiving. I think it is because there is no snow on the ground. When you live in Michigan and Ohio all of your life, you get used to certain things. Snow on the ground in November means you should plan your Thanksgiving meal. Snow on the ground in December means you should plan your Christmas meal. In the odd years that is doesn't snow, the mere fact that everyone is talking about how it hasn't snowed reminds you to plan respective holiday meals. Luckily we keep things pretty simple around here so I only have to pick up those Turkey roasting bags, stuffing ingredients, Brussels sprouts and whipping cream. I think we might be using good old baguettes this year because I can't seem to find the seasoned crouton looking stuff we usually use (Pepperidge Farms maybe?) It seems that everyone down here makes cornbread stuffing, because every time I ask where the stuffing stuff is, they say "Oh Honey, the corn meal is right down there." Not sure I could have Thanksgiving without my mom's stuffing, but we may have to.

Every holiday the kids each pick a dish that they want to make. This year, Christian is making his famous mashed potatoes, Ethan is making pumpkin and apple pie and Alex is making roasted Brussels sprouts. We will have turkey, rolls, salad and maybe some roasted squash.

Well that sounds like a pretty great menu for not really planning Thanksgiving!!! My husband has been planning it for WEEKS and let me tell you, it's not that much different than yours! He he!!!!

See, and I usually stress over the planning. I think next time I may just do nothing until the last minute again!
